Denim Coffee to Open 10th Shop in 10 Years in Downtown York Monday, November 9th

Ten years ago, Denim Coffee Co-Owners Matt Ramsay and Tony Diehl dreamed up a bold plan: open 10 shops in 10 years to bring their vision of specialty coffee and third spaces to Central Pennsylvania. With an eye on more equitable coffee sourcing, they calculated that 10 shops was the critical mass needed to make a meaningful impact through sustainable, direct-trade relationships with coffee farmers—the hardworking individuals who traditionally receive the least in the coffee economy.

On Monday, November 9, that vision becomes a reality. Denim Coffee will officially open the doors to its 10th cafe at 2 W Market St in downtown York, arriving just ahead of the 10-year anniversary of their first cafe opening in downtown Carlisle on December 15, 2016.

"I've been holding on to a vision of justice in coffee for 20 years," says Ramsay. "It's a volatile market for coffee growers.  We've been able to do some good things, but it's exciting to reach a milestone we feel can really help us make an impact at the farm level going forward.  That milestone would not be possible without an amazing team, friends and family, and amazing customers who participate in the mission to make and enjoy better coffee."

Denim opens on the corner at the square in downtown York (2 W Market St) formerly occupied by Prince Street Cafe.

"We are incredibly grateful for Kyle and Crystal, owners of Prince Street Cafe, who had the vision to establish this gorgeous space as a hub for coffee and connection on the square," said Ramsay. "Community spaces like this are incredibly valuable, and it's an honor for us to be stewards of this lovely space going forward."

The new shop will be open Monday through Friday 7am-6pm, Saturday and Sunday 7:30am-6pm. The menu will feature Denim Coffee's full specialty coffee and espresso menu, lattes, smoothies, fresh-baked goods, sandwiches and more.

"We wouldn't have made it to 10 shops without an incredibly talented and dedicated team—from our bakers and roasters to our delivery drivers and the baristas across all of our locations," added Co-Owner Tony Diehl. "If you are in or around downtown York, we hope you will stop in, give us a try, and utilize the space as a hub for coffee and connection."
